By train from Kiruna to Narvik

Narvik, small town in the northern part of Norway is known as the place of famous battle during WWII. The place was so important because of its strategic location and the harbor where Germans wanted to load iron ore mined in Northern Sweden (Kiruna). The railroad remained the war and now Narvik may be accessible by train from Stockholm. There train stops for longer time in Kiruna in Swedish Lapland, so there is an opportunity to have a brief tour in this mining city. The Kiruna – Narvik railroad is undisputedly one of the most impressive railroads in Europe. However the distance is not long, it takes several hours to from one town to the other. This is because the train goes amongst high mountains and has to go very slowly. But the views from the windows are indeed spectacular – there are many fiords , lakes and springs looking as high waterfalls. It is definitely worth experiencing.
