Best known for being the major gateway to the Pacific North West, Washington State has quite a lot to offer. Of course the sea shore packed with hundreds of miles of recreation friendly coastline and a vast archipelago. The inland has a massive conifer forest with plenty of skiing opportunities during the winter months, and three national parks with several major (semi-active) volcanos. Seattle is by far the largest city in the state and offers world class dining, lodging and entertainment. Most of the communities are on the coast where the climate is more mild and less varied due to the ocean stabilizing the temperatures. The inland in the other hand, especially the Spokane and Yakima regions are notorious for the harsh winters and extreme snowfalls.
