Bangkok Region

Having already explored and extensively travelled through vast parts of Asia before first visiting the Bangkok region, I was very excited and curious to see what I would find. Sadly, I felt let down as I didn’t really think the city had much of a unique atmosphere to offer. While interesting, beside the royal palace there was not a lot that was worth the insane hassle of battle the traffic and crowds of this enormous city. I understand why some tourists would chose to have a long stopover here, especially if they were from overseas and heading towards the sea or the islands, but going out of your way to visit Bangkok is in my opinion simply not worth it. If you want to see temples, go to Siem Reap of Bagan; if you want to see a slice of modern Asia, go to Singapore or Hong Kong. If you want great Thai food, well then you can really go anywhere in Thailand not just Bangkok. However, if you are looking for that “special kind” of nightlife you have heard so much about, then I guess you have come to the perfect place.
