More than just Vegas.

In my opinion a rather misunderstood place, Nevada is so much more than just Las Vegas, but unfortunately that is what most people see and associate with it. I have visited Nevada many times, and while the glitzy casinos and endless buffets of the strip may be interesting for a day or two, I really like rural Nevada much more. If you have the opportunity to visit, make sure to spend a few days in the desert, either camping or staying in small town motels. Very few people live outside of the LV and Reno metro areas so you will experience an amazing kind of quiet and tranquility. The weather changes quickly in the desert so make sure to bring extra clothing even during the summer months despite the insanely hot daytime temperatures. A large portion of the state is covered by off limit military bases (area 51 and such) so don’t be surprised if you see low and fast flying airplanes in the middle of nowhere when you are taking pictures of lonely Joshua Trees.
