Sic Semper Tyrannis

“Sic Semper Tyrannis” – with those Latin words and a seal picturing a roman rebel stabbing the tyrant leader to death, Virginia’s motto and values symbolize that of the first foreign settlers on this continent. Technically a southern state, Virginia really has everything from the first settlement of Jamestown to tobacco and cotton fields, the modern suburbs of Washington DC and parts of the remote Appalachians. I have been through Virginia several times, and so have you if you ever crossed the Potomac in DC or landed at Dulles, but that really doesn’t give it justice. To explore old Virginia head into the country or wander around Richmond for a few hours where old American history comes to life and you can tour the state capitol that was designed by Jefferson himself.
