I visited New Orleans not too long before Katrina hit, so I was glad to be able to experience much of the city before such big parts were destroyed. However, going to New Orleans before turning 21 is, well, like going to New Orleans before being 21. It is very difficult to experience much of the city without being wasted along with all the other tourists. I walked along the river front, looked at some old churches and the French quarter, the strolled around in the ghetto a little bit. While interesting (and many times picturesque) not much appealed to me; most likely due to the lack of Southern Comfort filling my veins.
