South Korea was one of the last countries in Asia that I ended up visiting. While my stay was actually really pleasant, I would mainly recommend this are as an introduction to Asia rather than an exploration. Seoul has everything you would expect from a major city in the region from hectic traffic to the odd foods and plenty of temples and other religious artifacts. If you want to experience true Asian greatness I would still recommend you go to Tokyo, Hong Kong and Beijing instead, but Seoul can still be quite a nice visit if you don’t expect too much. Focus on the old town and avoid Gangnam, then head out to the border for a North Korea tour.
