A Luxury Eco Paradise Called Las Alamandas

by Edward Placidi - 4 years, 1 month ago

There is a secluded resort set within its own nature reserve with four private beaches used only by the guests of the exclusive boutique property with 17 suites – and on most days you can have 3 of the 4 all to yourself. The pristine beaches are soft white sand, the turquoise water is warm for swimming and water sports. The place is Las Alamandas (www.alamandas.com), a true beach hideaway set within a 1,500-acre, gated estate on Mexico’s Pacific coast, two hours south of Puerto Vallarta. The untouched beaches are only part of the story: Las Alamandas boasts one of the most beautiful natural environments of any resort. The resort is set on a private bay with a rocky cape at both ends, amid verdant gardens of towering palms, flowing fountains, expansive lawns and flowering plants. All around is a private nature reserve where sea turtles lay their eggs in nests in the sand, lagoons and streams are habitats for numerous species of birds, jungle terrain traversed by trails is ideal for biking and hiking, and lookout points offer dramatic panoramas of the coast. There are activities for everyone: excursions to the awesome rookery of Bird Island, boating trips on the Rio San Nicolas, lighted tennis court, beach volleyball, half basketball court, croquet, lawn chess, mountain bikes, 60-foot swimming pool, fully equipped air-conditioned gym, ping-pong, horseback riding on the beach, bird watching, kayaks (doubles and singles), hiking, surfing and boogie boarding. Estrella Azul, the “Blue Star,” is an open-air, rooftop bar-lounge decorated in shades of blue for enjoying the extraordinarily colorful sunsets and star-filled heavens at night. A Kids Club offers a program of games, arts and crafts, and activities. The extraordinarily spacious and beautifully appointed suites offer indoor-outdoor living with large terraces, private jacuzzis and ocean panoramas. The innovative contemporary Mexican cuisine is prepared with freshly caught seafood and organic produce grown on-property. At a spa pavilion by the sand, massages and treatments are enjoyed to the soothing sounds of the surf. A private 3,300-foot airstrip allows guests to arrive by private plane.
