Budapest Pastry Tips

Due to family ties, I have visited this region over two dozen times throughout the past three decades so it’s a little difficult to project an objective view of the region. I would recommend contacting one of the local tourist info offices or picking up a guide book and then decide what to actually see. Budapest offers a tremendous amount of attractions of various qualities, but I would strongly suggest the classic long strolls along both banks of the Danube River, a visit to the Fisherman’s Bastion, the castle, the parliament, along Andrassy Street and then a trip out to the suburbs to look at the old communist style apartment blocks. For what may be the best pastry shop in Europe, check out “Jegbufe” on the Pest side of Elizabeth Bridge, about 100m before the actual bridge on the north side of the street.
