Going to Osh
by H Milan Winkelhock - 4 years ago
Osh was my long rest stop after a treacherous shared bus/taxi/car ride over several days from Dushanbe, travelling across some of the most amazing vistas, along the Afghan border, and meeting some of the most interesting people. For a while I sat next to a shady gentleman who I believe was working for one of the local security agencies. After many attempted awkward questions and suggestions from his part, he tried to sell me a Russian passport. Osh is a typical Central Asian small town, nothing touristy besides sucking in the atmosphere. There is a nice hill to climb, and a very well stocked market to shop at.
