Visiting Dallas during a weekend is like walking in to a closed store, the place is empty and you feel a little out of place. As in most places around America’s south and west people live in the suburbs and the downtown areas are inhabited by weirdoes and tourists. Most people come to the city for conferences, sporting events and to take some morbid pictures by the X that marks the spot where President Kennedy was shot; some days you can even tour the old book depository. If you want to see what real Texas is all about you will need to arrive by car or at least rent one, and spend it with the locals in the smaller towns away from any CBDs.
