Ten Thousand Lakes

The land of the ten thousand lakes is funnily enough inhabited by people of mostly Scandinavian heritage and the landscape also closely resembles that of central Finland and northern Sweden. I’ve visited Minneapolis once as tourist, a few dozen times for layovers at MSP (with side trips to the Mall of America) and once for business in Thief River Falls. Minneapolis has a vibrant and rather hip downtown but it is essentially a Midwestern town, good as a gateway for the region. Minnesota can become very cold in the wintertime especially the northern part of the state. With winter temperatures close to fifty below zero and several dozen feet of snow it’s not a coincidence that many snow mobile companies have chosen to relocate here.
