NYC ares treasures

Everyone has been to New York so instead of a personal story I wanted to share some more or less known places around the city that I would suggest people explore if they get tired of the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. 1: Russian Brooklyn/Queens- The Russian and Ukrainian neighborhoods along the bay are great places to explore authentic Eastern European cuisine and culture, it is truly as close to Moscow and Odessa as you can get without actually going there. Several specialty supermarkets and all the foreign products you can imagine. Hop on the MTA or take a taxi. 2: Roosevelt Island- great for some relaxing walks as you will basically have uninterrupted views of both Manhattan and queens. Not many tourists visit the island so there won’t be any crowds; if you have a bike just bring it. You can circumnavigate the island in about an hour and explore the few parks and the lighthouse. Take the V or F trains (orange line), the cable car from the Manhattan side or the bridge from Queens. 3: Palisades Parkway- If you have access to a car drive up along the West Side Highway to the George Washington Bride, cross over to New Jersey and keep a right at the first off ramp, it will take you back into New York State and have you drive north along a beautiful parkway with many rest stops lookout from which you can gaze upon the Hudson Valley and the palisades that line the waterfront.
