Visit Chichen Itza on your own
One of the New Seven Wonders of the World, Chichen Itza attracts scores of tourists. Bus tours to the landmark can be purchased from many hotels and street shops in Cancun, Merida, Playa del Carmen, and other places.
However, if you prefer to travel solo, without an organized group, you can easily visit Chichen Itza, too - on your own schedule and with a significantly smaller price tag!
The picture of Bus schedules was taken in Chichen Itza in the beginning of 2015, with prices effective at that time for the SECOND class bus - not luxury, but quite comfortable inter-city bus (when US $1 was about 14 mexican pesos). Both tour buses and inter-city buses stop at the parking lot near the Main entrance to Chichen Itza.
Obviously, the schedule FROM Cancun, Merida, Playa del Carmen, Valladolid, Tulum, Coba TO Chichen Itza may look different - ask at the bus station (in Spanish). But this will give you a general idea.
The price of admission to Chichen Itza is higher for foreign tourists than for Mexicans. At the time, foreigners had to pay about $15 (cash - in pesos, no credit cards).
