At the very end of India, as you go south from Thiruvananthapuram, you reach a quaint place called Kanyakumari, which is essentially the end of India, it doesn't go any further south. This place is not just interesting geographically but also spiritually as the Bagavathi Amman temple is one of the highlights. Another is taking a 10-minute boat ride to two little islets which feature a statue and a rock memorial and make for some truly nice views. On the whole, this is certainly an easy and worthy day excursion if you are in southern Kerala or find yourself (which is more unlikely if you a tourist) in the southern parts of Tamil Nadu.
