I had been in Ottawa in 1984, but only stayed in that city for a few hours, in transit, hitchhiking with final destination Montreal.
The second time, in 2008, I flew in coming from Iqaluit, in Baffin Island, crossing the strait of Hudson. That flight was wonderful.
When I landed in Ottawa I visited most of the town from early morning to the evening, but did not spend the night there. The reason was my wish to get to Labrador Peninsula as soon as possible.Anyway I managed to see several nice places, but did not enter any museum because I was short of money. Instead, I walked along the Sparks Street, went to the Parliament Hill (but I missed the changing of the guard), the hotel Chateau Laurier, the Confederation building, admired the river Ottawa, etc.
Perhaps I was not time enough to get to know that city deeper but, anyway, I felt satisfied when in the afternoon I left Ottawa hitchhiking with destination Labrador Peninsula, journey that would take me almost one week.
