Ryazan is a city that was recently added to extended Golden Circle of Russia. It is difficult to assess whether it is justifiable, although its kremlin is definitely stunning. Its main church, Arkhangelsky Sobor has one of the most beautiful ikonostas I have seen in Russia.
Apart from the kremlin it is worth visiting all the downtown with some renovated buildings and see monuments of Sergey Yesenin, famous Russian poet who was born in a village nearby.
If you come by train from the east and go to the south/North (or vice versa) be careful as most probably you will have to change train station (there are two in Ryazan, the distance is about 15-20 min by walk).
