The birthplace of Emilia Earhart
by Jan Cobbenhagen - 4 years, 7 months ago
During our visit to Hawaii in the summer of 2013, we saw the monument that was erected in memory of Emila Earhart's last flight. In january 2014 I had to go to Atchinson, Kansas in order to give a lecture at a local college. While walking though the streets, I was surprised to stumble upon the birthplace of Emilia, which now is a museum (unfortunately it was closed). For those not familiar with her achievements: Amelia Earhart was the the first woman to make a solo transatlantic flight in 1932, the first person to fly from Hawaii to the American mainland and the the first person to solo both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
