Old fortress in Tainan

by Harry Mitsidis - 4 years, 10 months ago

The old Dutch fortress in Tainan dates from the mid 17th century, when the brave Dutch conquerers built it to control the area against invaders. They didn't stay too long in the area, but the current museum is a testimony to their rule, and also the centuries that followed, the British invasion and of course the additions by the Japanese who were in Taiwan in the 1930s. Interesting enough. Beware of extreme heat, the museum inside will be a welcome relief with its aircon...
