Rizal - the greatest Filipino...

by Harry Mitsidis - 4 years, 10 months ago

In the heart of Intarmuros you will find the shrine to Rizal - the greatest hero of the country. Every town has a Rizal avenue or square. This doctor and thinker is credited for waking up the consciousness of the country to strive for independence. The fact that he was executed by the Spanish after a hasty trial at the young age of 35 has just made his heroic status even larger. The museum is free of charge for all to visit and ponder - they asked me to take off my cap when I entered as a sign of respect. Admittedly, this is a well-done place, which certainly does justice to a man who was clearly ahead of his time.
