Indeed, Mindelo is a find. There isn't much to it really - it probably used to be much busier in the 19th century when its port was extremely important. Nowadays, however, the place oozes with atmosphere and seems rather popular with many tourists, especially French. The beautiful colonial atmosphere, some really pretty houses, the polite nature of the Cape Verdeans all make for a rather lovely town. A couple of museums are basically the only obvious sight here - the spirit of Cesaria Evora, whose native place this is, hangs all over, from the international airport to the currently quite vibrant music scene. Certainly a must for any traveller.
